Dangerous Goods

In an emergency situation, Dangerous Goods signage is absolutely crucial in communicating information to emergency services about the hazardous goods stored on your premises and/or being transported on our roads & rail networks. It is also a requirement of Law and the Work Health & Safety Regulations.

Hazardous Goods are classified as solids, liquids or gases that can harm people, property or the environment. Those hazardous goods are subject to regulations regarding their storage & transport.

Basically, anyone storing and/or transporting Dangerous Goods (above certain limits) must display appropriate signs regarding the types of Dangerous Goods that are being stored or transported according to the Work Health & Safety Regulations and the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail.

Storage

Prescribed signs are used to clearly identify that Dangerous Goods are being stored on your premises, whether they are stored in a warehouse, in a drum or in a tank. In the event of an accident or incident, these signs provide critical information to emergency responders as to the type of Dangerous Goods being stored so that in an emergency, they can respond appropriately to the situation.

Transport

Prescribed signs are used to clearly identify that Dangerous Goods are being transported on a vehicle whether they are in packages or in a tank. In the event of an accident or incident, these signs provide critical information to emergency responders as to the type of Dangerous Goods being transported, so that in an emergency, they can respond appropriately to the situation.

Dangerous Goods Class Diamonds

Class Diamonds are used to clearly identify the contents of packaged Dangerous Goods, whether they are being stored or transported. This information can be found on each product’s Safety Data Sheet.

GHS (Global Harmonisation System) Symbols

GHS Symbols (pictograms) are used to identify hazardous products and are commonly grouped by their risk – chemical and/or physical risk / health risk / environmental risk. This information can be found on each product’s Safety Data Sheet
